Dave Tragethon Honored with FWSA’s Prestigious Jordan-Reily Award
FWSA VP of Public Affairs awards Dave Tragethon the Jordan-Reilly award.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Palm Springs, CA – June 2025 — The Far West Ski Association (FWSA) proudly announced Dave Tragethon as the recipient of the 2025 Jordan-Reily Award, presented at the annual FWSA Convention held in Reno, Nevada. The Jordan-Reily Award recognizes exceptional volunteer leadership and service to skiing and snowboarding across the western United States.
With decades of service to the ski and outdoor recreation industries, Dave’s leadership continues to leave a lasting impact. As former Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Mt. Hood Meadows for 30 years, he was instrumental in promoting mountain recreation and sustainability. Now at the helm of Tragethon Consulting, Dave has focused his expertise on strategy, planning, and environmental advocacy, particularly in support of climate action within mountain communities.
Since accepting the role of FWSA Environmental Committee Chair in 2024, Dave has brought transformative energy to the organization’s sustainability mission. Under his leadership, the committee has hosted impactful sessions on climate change, sustainability, and clean energy at the FWSA Convention (see Snow, Science, and Solutions: FWSA Panel Tackles Climate Change and the Future of Snowsports.)
Dave is also the author of Willow’s Second Chance, a children's book that introduces young readers to environmental issues, orphaned oil wells, and the power of rehabilitation. A portion of the proceeds supports the Well Done Foundation, which caps abandoned oil and gas wells to reduce harmful methane emissions.
“Dave exemplifies the spirit of the Jordan-Reily Award,” said Steve Coxen, FWSA VP of Public Affairs. “He brings passion, professionalism, and purpose to everything he does — whether educating future generations or championing climate action across the ski industry.”
FWSA congratulates Dave Tragethon on this well-earned recognition and thanks him for his tireless service and commitment to a more sustainable future for snow sports.
